2004 - THE YEAR OF THE MALE WOOD MONKEY

In general, Monkey years are full of surprises. This is the year for enterprise and commitment, and for those who are prepared to take the initiative, it can often turn out to be especially rewarding.

Since Monkeys are unpredictable, many events can take action during this year. We can see the stock market around the world being affected drastically; therefore caution is to be advised for investors to base their decision of fact and not on emotion. Also, many achievements have been seen in the past Monkey years for instance the completion of the Aswan Dam and in Switzerland the world’s largest road tunnel, running over 10 miles under the St. Gotthard mountain range.

This is the year for experiment in the entertainment world. We will see new trends in fashions as well as considerable advances in technology. New styles and new stars with new creations! It was in a Monkey year that Elvis Presley first came to be a star.

Since the Monkey brings unexpected events and chances like jumping from one branch to another, or sitting quietly in his own thoughts, or playing chase, this year can surprise us by grim feature; it was in a Monkey year that Martin Luther King and Senator Robert Kennedy were assassinated.

Let just BE PREPARED!

In the Eastern cultures lunar astrology is based on the moon phases and their influence on planet Earth as well as the elements that are controlling this year. It is with the characteristics of the animal of the year and with the Nine Transformations (based on the astronomical development by Lao Tzu during the end century B.C.E.) that will affect our environment and behavior. This year is the Wood element combined with the Monkey. The element Wood is the most versatile element. Plants are in constant growth, which creates a constant movement. Element Wood also controls the East and the sunrise from five to seven in the morning. It symbolizes with the color green and the spring.

The Nine Transformation it is represented with a square commonly named the Magic Square of Saturn. This year is represented by the basic one, which has number five in the center meaning EARTH. Element Earth is associated with motherhood and the planet itself. It symbolizes with the cauldron, the square, and color yellow. Also, element Earth governs all year around in between the four seasons. This year is a good year for agriculture!

In conclusion we should exercise caution this year in all fields. Think before acting and use all power of discernment and wisdom before taking any action. Element Earth takes an important role in the balance on the planet this year.  Do not pollute the ground, try to avoid cutting old trees, instead plant seeds during the year. Protect the environment!

We must remember these beautiful words:

“All things are connected.
Whatever befalls the earth
befalls the sons and daughters of the earth.
Man did not weave the web of life;
he is merely a strand in it.
Whatever he does to the web,
he does to himself."

YEAR OF THE MALE WOOD MONKEY
January 22, 2004 - February 8, 2005

Those born in the Monkey year are characterized by being short-tempered, tense and somewhat talkative. It is uncertain where their thoughts may roam, but they do enjoy amusements. In general, they will frequently tell tales and esteem lies, be hyperactive, and convinced of their own superiority.

The Monkey can be crafty, cunning, occasionally dishonest, and will seize on any opportunity to make a quick gain or outsmart his/her opponents. He/she has so much charm and guile that people often don't realize what the Monkey is up to until is too late. But despite its resourceful nature, the Monkey does run the risk of outsmarting even himself. He/she has so much confidence in his/her abilities that he/she rarely listens to advice or is prepared to accept help from anyone.

Another characteristic of the Monkey is that he/she is extremely good at solving problems and is a master of self-preservation. The Monkey is intelligent, well read, and always eager to learn. He has excellent memory and there are many Monkeys who have made particularly good linguistics. His friendly, self-assured manner can be very persuasive and he/she usually has little trouble in winning people round to his way of thinking.

The Wood Monkey can be efficient, methodical and extremely conscientious. The element Wood will make the Monkey more active and agitated sometimes when things do not work out as he/she had hoped. Also the wood element will give a tremendous desire for adventure and will not hesitate of taking risks. When the Monkey meets any obstacle his lucidity and suppleness enable him to land on his/her feet. IN love, the Monkey is still an adolescent, seductive and passionate.

The Monkey is a survivor and his life is full of events and very colorful.

The best time for the Monkey on 2004 will be the Spring, which is, related to the element Wood as well as the East and Sunrise.
