The Five Elements

The Versatile Element Wood

The element wood is represented by living plants and trees (whose colors are shades of brown and green). This element favors persons who were born between 11:00PM and 3:00AM. If you were born during these hours the element wood will be very meaningful in your life, therefore, the green and brown colors, will be favorable in your decorations and also in your wardrobe. The element wood (plants, trees) is the only element that moves the energies in all directions. The placement of plants and trees by the windows and doors, will prevent the escape of the energies.

The Passionate Element Fire

Fire is symbolized by brilliant, burning flames, and the Sun. This element favors persons who were born between 3:00AM and 7:00AM. If you were born during these hours you should incorporate the color red in your decoration and your wardrobe. Element Fire is associated with the South, with the heat of midday and summer. Fire moves the energies upward and can be destructive when it is used in excess.

The Maternal Element Earth

Earth is the center of all things. Its color is yellow. The element Earth controls between 7:00AM and 11:00AM. If you were born during these hours you should have color yellow in your wardrobe and in you decoration. Earth moves the energies in a zig-zag movement. Persons that are born during the time of the control of this element should never live in high-rise apartment, and should have marble floors or tiles. Element Earth also take part in between the hours of the other elements.

The Rigid Element Metal

Metal is symbolized by a sword. Its color are white and/or gray. A person born between 11:00AM and 3:00PM have the characteristics of this element. Autumn is the season of the year bringing coldness, dryness. A person born with Metal will be sharp, firm and blunt. Iron furniture and glass should be incorporated in decoration, and would be helpful to were gold and silver.

The Passive Element Water

The element Water is represented by waves. Its colors are black and/or blue. This element favor persons who were born between 3:00PM and 11:00PM. Persons born during these hours are passive, calm, and receptive. Since this is an aquatic planet cautions should be exercise to control this element, because in excess can cause stagnation. Water fountains should always be placed by the element Wood for productivity.

The use of Feng Shui began about eight hundred years ago in China and was based on the ancient science of Geomancy.

Feng (air, wind) and Shui (water) are the two basic elements of the Earth. These elements are the life force of our “blue planet.” The Chinese Encyclopedia defines Feng Shui as “the external and visible signs of the heavenly Yin and Yang: the art of arranging the human environment to be aligned with the Vital Energy (Ch’i).” Feng Shui.

- Metal attacks Wood and is destroyed by Fire
- Water attacks Fire and is destroyed by Earth

- Fire attacks Metal and is reinforced by Earth
