LOSAR (Tibetan New Year 2131)
February 21, 2004 - MALE WOOD MONKEY
Losar (lo "year", sar "new") 2131 is the Tibetan New Year. In most Eastern cultures the years are symbolized by an animal, creating a calendar with 12 animals and five elements that will change every twelve years. In Tibet it is almost the same with the difference that, for example, the Rooster is named the Bird; the Rabbit is named the Hare; the Rat is named the Mouse.
2004 (Tibetan 2131) is the year of Male Wood Monkey. Contrary to the other Eastern lunar horoscope, the Tibetan is never a forecast, and will never give any predictions. The elemental divinations are based on the lunar year, month and days with their corresponding element, which will take an important role in medicine as well as in astrology. The most important purpose of the horoscope is to prepare us to learn in the course of life. Since the human birth is a privilege, we have many opportunities to improve our human behavior and reach a higher spiritual goal. The Tibetan astro science derives from the Kalachakra Tantra (Kalachakra means cycles of life) given by the Lord Buddha himself. This system has three cycles: external, internal and alternative. The external is concerned with the motions of the planetary system, the years, months, days, and so on. The internal deals with the energy flow of the human body through thousands of wind channels. Both, the external and internal Kalachakra work together through the karmic process of life. Alternative Kalachackra employs the meditation practices in a complex yoga, instructed for purification.
Through Tibetan astrology we can know the elemental karmic conditions in life and how to overcome our limitations. It is designed to help us in the learning process of living. In the system of elemental analysis, Tibetan astro science has three branches: astrology (skar-tsis), martial conquest (gyul-rgyal), an elemental divination (‘byung-rtsis).
In general, the 2004 Male Wood Monkey follows elements which influences one’s own individual elements on the year of birth.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the above information, we see that the Destiny Numeric Square of this year is Yellow 5, which represents the element Earth. Also the Destiny Element in Mother-Relationship with the Vitality is also element Earth. The ruling element of the year is Wood which grows from the nutrient of element Earth. Because of the importance of element Earth this year it is recommended to take special care of the earth by non-polluting the environment and by planting seed. One of my Precious Tibetan Buddhist Teacher, H. E. Lama Kunga Thartse Rinpoche (www.ewamchoden.org) gave me some instructions for this year. He said to do a lot of seeding and while doing it to repeat the following mantra:
OM ZUPA RTETRA SO HA
With this action we will improve the environmental energies, and that will create a better world for all sentient beings.
